Preparing for your first visit

Antihistamines are medications that interfere with allergy testing. Many of these are listed below. Asthma inhalers do not need to be stopped prior to your visit.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact our clinic prior to your visit.

STOP THESE MEDICATIONS 10 DAYS PRIOR TO VISIT

Cyproheptadine

Imipramine (Check with prescriber before stopping this medication)

STOP THESE MEDICATIONS 5 DAYS PRIOR TO VISIT

  • Allegra (fexofenadine)

  • Hydroxyzine (Atarax or Vistaril)

  • Doxepin

  • Desloratadine (Clarinex)

  • Loratadine (Claritin or Alavert)

  • Cetirizine (Zyrtec)

  • Levocetirizine (Xyzal)

STOP THESE MEDICATIONS 3 DAYS PRIOR TO VISIT

  • Diphenhydramine (Benadryl, also found in some over the counter sleep aids like Unisom)

  • Chlorpheniramines (Chlortabs)

  • Ranitidine (Zantac)

  • Cimetidine (Tagamet)

  • Famotidine (Pepcid)

  • Azelastine Nasal Spray/Eyedrops

  • Olopatadine Nasal Spray/Eyedrops (Pataday/Patanase)

  • Dymista Nasal Spray

  • Promethazine (Phenergan)

  • Amitryptyline/(Elavil) (Check with prescriber before stopping this medication)

  • Meclizine (Antivert)

  • Astelin

  • Astepro

  • Extendryl

DO NOT STOP

  • Asthma inhalers

  • Steroid nasal sprays (Flonase, Nasocort, Nasonex, Rhinocort, etc.)

  • Montelukast (Singulair)

  • ANY NON-ALLERGY/ASTHMA MEDICATIONS NOT LISTED ABOVE
