Environmental Allergy/Allergic Rhinitis

The most common environmental allergies include pollen, dust, pet dander, and mold. Many times these are referred to as hay fever. They are extremely common in Arkansas, and patients typically see an increase in their symptoms during the spring, but can experience symptoms all year.

Many patients have been told that they have “allergies,” but they do not know specifically what they are allergic to. Our Allergy Team can help pinpoint the specific allergy that is affecting the patient and offer treatment options to help.

If appropriate, our team might recommend allergy shots to help resolve the issue. The difference in allergy shots and other common allergy treatments is that the goal of the allergy shot is to resolve the issue. Allergy medications simply treat the symptoms of the allergy, but allergy shots are used to desensitize the body to the allergy. The treatment plan for allergies can take up to five years, but many patients notice an improvement within the first year.

If allergy shots are needed, our team offers convenient options to receive your shots either in our Little Rock - Kanis, Benton, and North Little Rock clinics, or by partnering with your primary care physician for administer the shots in their office.
